Camino Tip 29: Take lithium batteries

Camino Tips 29Lithium batteries are lighter than regular alkaline batteries and last up to eight times longer, so you need to carry fewer batteries with you. Though they are more expensive than other batteries, their long-life and lightness make up for the extra cost.

They are extremely hard to find in Europe, so be sure to take enough for the duration of your trip.

Restrictions:

Limited quantities: Some countries have restrictions on lithium batteries:

  • The UK does not accept Lithium batteries in luggage unless they are included with the equipment which they power.
  • In the United States, unless installed in the device, the batteries must be in carry-on luggage.

Air Mail prohibitions: Australia, Hong Kong, US A, and Japan prohibits air mailing shipping of lithium batteries
