Camino Tip 45: Don’t over plan the itinerary

Camino Tips 45The Camino is unlike most other hikes where you may not know what to expect at the end of the day. On the Camino, you can be assured a room and food. Most towns have accommodations and restaurants, cafés or “mercados” where you can purchase food. If the albergues are full, you only need walk a few more kilometers to reach the next village, or pay a little more to stay at a private hostel, inn, or hotel. As the expression states, “The Camino provides.”

Not having a specific itinerary is very freeing. If a town interests you, stay longer. If you are tired, stop early. If you are enjoying the walk, continue on. The spontaneity adds to the adventure.
